I am Jolyne.
I am a Singaporean mother of two young boys, and the founder of Mandarin Learning Tours.
This work was not created from a business plan. It was shaped during an extended season of motherhood in Beijing.
What began as a short holiday became a longer stay. I navigated daily life alone with two young children in Mandarin, from medical appointments to playground conversations.
At that time, we had only recently begun introducing Mandarin at home. English was still our primary language and Mandarin was new in our daily rhythm.
Over those weeks, I watched my children change.
They spoke comfortably with shopkeepers.
They played naturally with local children.
They moved through the city with familiarity.
Strangers began asking which part of China they were from.
What I was witnessing was not exposure. It was cultural ease.
That experience reshaped how I understand early language development and became the foundation of Mandarin Learning Tours.

How I Lead
I personally design each journey and work closely with our Beijing-based educator-explorers, who are native Mandarin speakers experienced in early childhood settings.
They are trained to respond attentively, build trust, and guide from within the experience rather than from the front. Their role is relational while mine is architectural.
The experience remains intentionally small because this level of care requires proximity and involvement.

How Families Experience This
Families often share that they feel supported and at ease from the moment they arrive.
They notice that the details have been carefully considered. The pacing respects young children. The educators are attentive. The balance between novelty and familiarity allows children to settle quickly.
Parents are not managing logistics or directing learning. They are able to be fully present and participate alongside their child with confidence that the structure has already been thoughtfully designed.
