Many experiences that we design are closed door experiences, designed specifically for our families, not something you'd find on a travel site, and not something AI or a search engine could find or book for you either. Its dialect forms the phonological, lexical and grammatical basis of Standard Mandarin (Putonghua), which is the version used in formal Mandarin education, media, and government across most of the Mandarin-speaking world. We go to historic sites, farms, orchards, museums, parks, factories, publishing houses, villages, and more, wherever the experience actually is, not what's convenient or central in the city. We go wherever it lets your family live and learn like a Beijing family for a week, based on your child's interests.We keep travel time short too, usually no more than an hour, so your family spends more time in the experience than in transit.

No. At least one close family member, such as a parent or grandparent, needs to be part of the journey with your child. Younger children are, if anything, better wired for this. Research on language acquisition is fairly consistent that the early years, roughly the age range we design for, are when children absorb accent, rhythm, and vocabulary most naturally.All activities are age appropriate, and every journey is mixed age, with our educators supporting each child individually. A five-year-old might complete ten steps of an activity, a two-year-old might only manage three, and that does not mean the two-year-old is learning less in terms of language. We encourage you to watch for the growth in your own child, rather than comparing them to an older one. A young child's brain is extremely sensitive to everything happening around them, the people, the language, the environment itself, even before that shows up in how much Mandarin they actually speak.Our journeys are designed around how young children actually acquire language, not around how much of an activity they can complete.

Yes. Every additional adult, whether a grandparent, a caregiver, or a parent who only joins for part of the journey, is priced at the standard per-adult rate. Everyone who comes takes part in the activities, meals, transport, and accommodation alongside the group.

We partner with five star properties from international hotel groups like Marriott, Shangri-La, and Hyatt, that we personally select and vet for comfort and suitability for families with young children, and we're always expanding this network with every journey we run.We confirm the hotel once every family on that journey has completed their pre-trip consultation and the itinerary is designed, since the hotel is chosen based on what's centrally located for that specific journey. We'll share the name and address with the confirmed families on that journey as soon as it's confirmed.

Each family is provided with one room, or an appropriate configuration for larger families or those travelling with a grandparent or caregiver, based on family size and composition. During the pre-trip consultation, we ask how your family usually travels and sleeps, so we can configure and prepare your room that is provided to suit you best.Suite upgrades are also available, at your own cost. Just let us know, and we will arrange it.

Everyone on a Curated Group Journey stays at the same hotel. This keeps the group together for transport, meals, and the daily schedule, and it’s part of what makes the six days run smoothly for every family. The experience fee is non-refundable once your family is confirmed because from that point, we are designing your trip around your family specifically through the pre-trip consultation and the group of five families is curated together around everyone who has confirmed.That said, we take genuine medical emergencies seriously. If a medical emergency means your family cannot travel, and you can provide a medical certificate confirming this, we will transfer your booking to a future journey suited to your family, within a year of your original dates. If the fee has gone up by then, you would only need to cover the difference.

A signed client agreement and full payment. Once both are in, we will schedule your pre-trip consultation call, and start designing the journey around your family.

No minimum. Once your family confirms, the journey runs. When a family commits, we commit too. You won't be left scrambling to find a backup plan.

The journey starts after breakfast on day 1. We highly recommend arriving at least a night before, so your family can settle in and get a good night's sleep first as well-rested children learn better too. It is optional, but most families find it makes a difference.

Yes, some families do. If you are arriving early, you can choose to stay at our tour hotel for those extra nights too, just let us know during your pre-trip consultation, and we will keep you in the same room for your entire stay, so there is no need to pack and unpack partway through. Extension nights are charged separately.If you would prefer to stay at a different hotel, or travel elsewhere, in Beijing or beyond, that is possible before day 1 or from day 7 onward.

Vegetarian needs can usually be accommodated on the Curated Group Journey. Halal and vegan requirements are harder to guarantee within a shared group menu, so we are only able to accommodate those on the Private Founder Immersion.For families with severe food allergies or sensitivities, we will not be able to accommodate either journey, as allergen labelling and kitchen cross-contamination controls are not consistent everywhere we travel.
